  1. I know that Tapley was not related to me... maybe... and that this bit of history never occurred to later day historians. But it is still a good story.

    2. My son descends from the Burneys and Susannah Holland, sister of Tapley. He must be a cousin of yours!

  3. My great great and maybe another great grandfather was a William Holland. I think he was a brother to Francis Holland. I am trying to write an account of William Asbery Holland, July 18,1859--August 8, 1912. I have a tin type of him and his wife Susan Glimp who settled in Sonora, Texas. I am looking for any info on the couple

  5. My old timers spoke of him and moving from Holland creek to Conroe. The pronounced his name Tarply. This most be the Scottish accent. My father still has Mary Anns hymnal. She wrote a bit about their travels. Most historians have them coming from Canada but this was only by way of their ship porting in Nova Scotia. Mary ann writes they travelled from their home Babonshire, Dundee, Scotland.

  6. My GG Grandmother was Katy Holland, daughter of William Holland (brother of Francis Holland, who was the father of Tapley. She is buried outside Iola, Texas in Grimes County. I have a photo of the historical marker on her grave that I will try to find a way to post.

    1. My family is in the Iola area and before my great grandmother passed away, she told me of Tapley Holland and that we are related. I just am not sure how. More of my family lives in the Keith Community and the area around there. :)

  7. Katy Holland is my 3x great-grandmother through her third husband, William Cobb. I'd love to connect as I'm just on the beginning of my ancestry search. I'd love to see how much further back I can go.
